After a long wait, rain arrives in various districts including Dhaka

According to the weather forecast, the residents of the capital finally saw rain on Thursday morning.

While there is light rain or drizzle in different parts of Dhaka, it is raining in Motijheel, Shantinagar, Malibagh, Mouchak, Kakrail, Naya Paltan, Bijoynagar, Bailey Road, Fakirapool and some other areas.

It is also raining in Hatirjheel, Karwan Bazar, and Panthapath areas. The rain brought some relief in the hot weather that has been going on for the past few days.

Apart from Dhaka, there have been reports of rain in some districts of the country including Chittagong, Sylhet and Barisal.

However, according to the Meteorological Office, this rain is not categorized as monsoon rain as the monsoon season has recently reached the coast of Bangladesh. The current rain is attributed to convective clouds present over the ocean.

The sky of Dhaka was cloudy since Wednesday. The people of the capital had been suffering from the sweltering heat throughout the day and night. However, around 9am on Thursday it suddenly started raining bringing relief.

According to the Meteorological Department, deep convective clouds have formed in the Bay of Bengal area. Due to its effect, gale force winds may blow over the coastal areas, sea and river ports of Bangladesh, so four sea ports of the country have been asked to show local warning signal number 3 and riverports have been asked to show signal number 1.

Due to the same reason, there may be temporary gusty or gusty winds or rain with thunder in one or two places in different parts of the country.

According to the weather warning, due to the continued formation of deep convective clouds over the North Bay of Bengal, gale force winds may blow over the North Bay of Bengal and adjacent coastal areas and sea ports of Bangladesh.

For this, Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra seaports have been asked to show local warning signal number 3. Also, all fishing boats and trawlers operating in North Bay of Bengal have been asked to approach the coast with caution until further notice.

Similarly, in the weather forecast for the internal river ports of the country, it is said that over Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar regions, there may be temporary rain or thunder with gusty or gusty wind speed of 45-60km per hour from south or southeast direction. Ports in these areas have been asked to display signal number 1.

According to the Meteorological Department, the extension of western low pressure is staying over West Bengal and adjoining areas.

In the forecast for the next 24 hours, it is said that many places of Chittagong division and one or two places of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal and Sylhet divisions may experience rain or thunder with temporary gusty winds.

Intense heat wave is flowing over Rajshahi, Pabna, Naogaon, Dinajpur, Jessore and Chuadanga districts.

A mild to moderate heat wave is moving over Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions including Sylhet district and remnants of Rangpur, Rajshahi and Khulna divisions and may persist for a few days.
