‘JK 1971’ wins top prize at Rainbow Film Festival

This year’s edition of the festival concluded with an announcement of awards. ‘JK 1971’ was given Best Film in the Feature Film category. ‘Satao’ received a Rainbow Film Society Special Mention. ‘Tulika’ brought home Best Film in the Short and Documentary Category.

The eight day 24th Rainbow International Film Festival concluded with a screening of   Bangladeshi film, “JK 1971” Sunday, June 4.

This year’s edition of the festival concluded with an announcement of awards. “JK 1971” was given Best Film in the Feature Film category. “Satao” received a Rainbow Film Society Special Mention. 

“Tulika” brought home Best Film in the Short and Documentary Category. 

The festival was inaugurated on May 28 at Genesis Cinema Hall, Mile End Road, East London. 45 films representing countries such as Bangladesh, India, Iran, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, and China were showcased from May 29 to June 3. 

The film festival’s jury board members included, for feature films: Jayasree Kabir, Pulak Gupta, Robert Phillips, Sadek Ahmed Chowdhury, Syed Anas Pasha and Dr. Zaki Rezwana Anwar.

Short and Documentary jury board members: Aunul Islam, Nadia Ali, Noora Alam Suman, Syed Makib Ahmed. 

A full-day workshop exclusively for women was also held on June 3. The event covered various aspects of film production, including acting, directing, and editing short films.
