Award winning Bangla web-series “Taqdeer” official Telugu remake “Dayaa” is to be released soon on Disney+ Hotstar.
The Director of “Taqdeer” Syed Ahmed Shawki calls this “a proud moment for Bangladesh,” however revealing that he was unaware of the development of the remake.
“Bangladesh has amazing stories. We have great books as well. Just like authors do hold the rights to books, we the creators of the shows, don’t hold the rights. So, I would love to see a lot more remakes if the creators hold the rights. I will watch the series ‘Dayaa’ and I hope it’s better than the original. That’s how remakes should be. The lead actor is a fabulous actor, we have all been his fan since the ‘Satya’ times. The only reservation I have is that I could’ve been informed about the transfer of rights. Nevertheless I am still happy,” says Syed Ahmed.
Looking back to the unexpected popularity of “Taqdeer” the director states, “It was 2020, covid lockdowns were happening worldwide. We were writing during the lockdowns. At the time, OTT platforms were a new thing here. We wanted to make something we believed in. Whether audiences would watch it or not, we didn’t know.”
Eesha Rebba, JD Chakravarthy, Prudhvi Raj, Kamal Kamaraju, among others will star in the “Taqdeer” remake directed by Pavan Sadineni.
The Head of Hoichoi Bangladesh, Sakib R Khan confirmed that “Dayaa” is an official remake stating, “Many of you are asking us regarding Disney Hotstar’s upcoming series, ‘Dayaa’. We are proud to inform you that ‘Dayaa’ is the official remake of our hit series Taqdeer. I believe this to be brilliant news not just for Hoichoi, but for Bangladeshi content as a whole.”
“Taqdeer” previously won Best Web Series award, while Syed Ahmed Shawki took home Best Director at the Safekeeper Channel I Digital Awards.
The cast of the web-series featured Chanchal Chowdhury, Manoj Kumar Pramanik, Sanjida Preeta and Shohel Mondol in the lead roles.
