Former Bangladesh skipper Tamim Iqbal informed that he will decide about the future of his international career after the next season of the Bangladesh Premier League.

Tamim held a press conference at his residence Monday afternoon hours after he discussed with Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan on various issues.

Tamim informed the media that he will start playing again in the upcoming edition of the BPL and after that will come to a conclusion about his future as a player.

“Earlier, I took a decision on the future of my playing career. You know it well and I don’t want to mention that again. Later I was just waiting to communicate with the BCB and officials. Today I had detailed discussions with the BCB president regarding what happened with me and what type of problems I had faced. He also shared many things with me,” said Tamim in the press conference Monday.

“Then I told him (BCB boss) what I want to do. But then he said he will have a busy time for the upcoming election. So he told me to stop at the moment and see what happens till January.

“I will start playing cricket from the BPL. You will get a clear idea about what will happen (about the future of my playing career) after that.

“I will never intend or even want to stretch this matter unnecessarily and take additional time as I’ve told you that I’ve already made my decision. I’ve discussed a lot of things with the president and the board. But since they have told me something, I need to respect that as well. We’ll wait till January. Let me play the BPL, then we’ll have another discussion for sure.

“He (BCB president) also said he won’t take a decision having only listened to me. He’ll listen to everyone and will take some strict decisions. I’ll wait for that and see what happens,” he concluded.

Tamim last featured for the national team in the three-match One Day International series at home against New Zealand in September.

He did not get a chance to bat in the first ODI but scored 44 runs in the second game.

Bangladesh will start their two-match home Test series against New Zealand in Sylhet Tuesday.
