Bangladesh A cricket team posted their first victory at the Asian Cricket Council’s Emerging Cup tournament when they beat Oman A by eight wickets in Colombo Saturday.
Bangladesh A had opened their campaign with a defeat against their Sri Lankan counterparts last Thursday but returned to winning ways against Oman A, chasing down 127 with 33.3 overs remaining.
Asked to bat first, Oman A were skittled out for just 126 in 46 overs having lost wickets at regular intervals with middle-order batter Ayaan Khan scoring the highest 26.
Seamer Tanzim Hasan Sakib led the Bangladesh A bowling attack with four wickets conceding only 18 runs in nine overs, while spinner Rakibul Hasan and part-timer Mahmudul Hasan Joy bagged two each.
In reply, Bangladesh A barely broke sweat in their chase thanks to the 109-run opening stand between Mohammad Naim (47 not out) and Tanzid Hasan (68).
Tanzid struck 11 fours and a couple of sixes in his 49-ball innings and following his dismissal, Naim and Zakir Hasan (11 not out) guided Bangladesh A to their destination.
Bangladesh A will take on Afghanistan A in Tuesday’s must-win game with the top two teams from this group joining the Pool B champions and runners-up in the semi-finals.
Group B comprises India A, Pakistan A, the United Arab Emirates A side and Nepal.
